After Australia, South Africa is the second country who have withdrawn from The ICC Champions Trophy 2008 that is due to be held in Pakistan. South African spokespersons say that they have made the decision after keeping in view the serious security concerns. It must be the impact of recent Wah Cantt Blasts.
Is Pakistan really dangerous for hosting champions trophy? or it’s just the biased opinion to malign the country’s foreign image?
Let us analyze:
Well, Pakistan has been successfully hosting many mega events in the country, even in worst then these circumstances. For example, Pakistan hosted ICC Asia Cup 2008 successfully in June 2008 when there was too much political instability and Musharraf was still the president.
And now that Musharraf has resigned and Pakistani politics is heading towards the stability. And security for foreign delegates is even tightened. So I see no harm of hosting The Champions Trophy in Pakistan. As withdrawing and maligning the image is really unjustifiable.
A delegate of ICC is scheduled to visit Pakistan on Sunday, for the final decision of hosting ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
