One of the most loved ghazal and classic singer of Indo-Pak, Madam Iqbal Bano died Tuesday April 21, 2009 in a local hospital of Lahore. Her age was 74. She was quite famous for her legendary ghazals sung on the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
Iqbal Bano was born in 1935 in Delhi, started her career from All India Radio Station. In 1950, she migrated to Pakistan and got associated with Pakistan film industry. She then resumed her musical career when Radio Pakistan invited her to perform.
She was also fluent in Farsi and she sang many ghazals in Farsi. Following is the video of one of her most famous ghazals:
