February 15, Telenor Easy Paisa launched a new promotional campaign over the internet that features the EP! The Easy Paisa icon who is seen saying “I am back with something new” and stimulates people to guess what this new service is and offers a chance to win an iPod. The unconfirmed reports were that this new service will be unveiled later, probably in the evening of Feb 25 i.e. tonight but that is unconfirmed. Everything seems perfect until in this very morning, print and electronic media unveiled the ‘alleged’ new service of Easy Paisa in the advertisements from Telenor.
Now this is the contradiction here, over the internet, you’re asking people to guess your new service and in the press and media, you’re shouting about your new service. Whilst we are unsure whether this is the new service EP is referring to or there’s something still behind the veil, this could be a communication gap or just another blunder created by the advertising agencies? Or. . . hey. . .this could be an intentional as well . . .! Perhaps Telenor attempted to see the distance or contrast between the mainstream media and the online media. Otherwise there wasn’t any point of creating separate campaigns for mainstream media and the online media.
