Where corruption swirls every vain of Pakistani leaders, for a fact is spreading over to those we never expected. Winning and losing all depends upon luck and hard work. A good team, instead of depending on luck, relies on hard work and strengthening plans beforehand but where there is corruption in a certain team, there is no hope we can look for. I am talking about non other than our beloved cricket players who have proved not to be reliable.
Lets take an example of a recent event that took place in Sri Lanka, Asia cup Series! Although their confidence was at the peak before the match and they were satisfied with their preparations (as Afridi says in a report shown on a channel) but were still unsuccessful. If the preparations were okay, what led our confident players to loose? It’s our job to investigate our failure!
Our players tried to play their level best, BUT!, AT THE END! When the match got crucial. Why do they always get serious in the end, instead of a great start?.they played comfortably, in other words, wasted the overs in the start and got rather serious at the end! Another thing worth considering is that players who were the victim of physical unfitness were involved, for instance Shoab Akhtar and who got beaten by several sixes from Harbajhan, Dhoni and many more Indian players and not to mention was hardly focusing on the ball when it was close to boundaries. Another blunder that could have lead the team to win, if not done, was the absence of brilliant players like Imran Nazeer. He is an awesome player but still starving for consideration and I am afraid we will loose such an asset if we are not fair with this guy!
Muhammad Amir was encouraged to a high degree for playing 3 constant sixes in One Day Internationals on 9 November,2009 but no stardom and credit has been given to Imran Nazeer for making Test Cricket centuries and One Day International centuries and even the hero of T20 2009, Umer Gul was absent?
Long lost were the times when cricket was our strength but now it seems as if our strength have drowned due to lack of planning, team maintenance along with hard working routine. Imran Khan has been a real asset to our team in the world cup of 1992. He was a well maintained, brilliantly polished super star. But our team players are even more capable if they notice the strong blunders they have done. They need to follow the footsteps of Imran Khan who slaughtered exceptional players in the past like Kepil Dev, Sandip Patel, Vishwanath and so many others. Lets just not examine the past of Imran Khan, but Graham Gooch, Brian Lara, Viv Richards, Rod Marsh and so many others who had shown great performances when it comes to brilliant cricket. These guys are enough to open our eyes for further hard work.
I wonder why the West Indies cricket team was called Black Storms during 1970s to 1990s. What was so special about them? it’s just the fact that they worked rather hard (no doubt our team is also doing) but at crucial times such as these, a bit more maintenance is needed, for many televisions’ sake (because losing from India means lots of television-breaks) and for the Pakistanis’ sake ( because losing from India means lots of Heart-breaks as well)!
Good teams have been destroyed before because old faces were continuously played instead of playing the young and more active talent and that’s what happened in the match! So it all comes down to a bit of planning, strengthening and hardworking plans and active presence, unlike non-serious and dull presence. We have an overall good future of cricket if we succeed to prevent the corruption reaching it!!!!!!!
