I think Laptop awards can make positive difference too. Yes, the main idea of Laptop awards was to attract youth to get votes but they evidently failed, youth is with PTI. If youth don’t choose to watch Star Plus and movies and choose something useful , effective and productive to do these Laptop Awards can bring real change.

Farhan – I think you have raised some very valid points – PML – chose to spend public money to garner its own popularity – its sad – had if they spent it out of their own pocket one would have had no right to question their marketing campaign or if these laptops were being used to leverage future votes

PPP did the same in Sindh passed out 1000 / month under the BISP [which was an off shoot of Kerry Luger Bill] since the past few years so by the time of elections it would have been 4 years – meaning 1000×12 (months/year) x 4 years = Rs.48,000 _ I dont mind spreading the wealth but that same amount of money could have been wisely spent on substantial long term rehabilitation like infratstucture/ schools/ water/ drainage – Handing out money is like a Drug-line – cash people enjoy – when it runs out they are so dependent on the 1000/ or free cash that either they resort to “other” easy ways to get that monthly fix or are financially crushed beyond repair

Both these corrupt parties work from election to election and in between languish in their palaces reaping in wealth
