Merry Christmas Pakistan! and Happy Birthday Quaid-e-Azam!

We wish all our Christian brothers a very Happy Christmas! There is a common misconception about Pakistan being a fundamental Islamic State. Yes! Pakistan is a Muslim state, but let me make it very clear! Our beloved Prophet of Islam, Muhammad PBUH always spoke about the universal brotherhood and friendly relations with non-muslims.

The same message was given by Jinnah, Pakistan’s founding father, he always spoke about the rights of Non-Muslims.

Below are the words of Jinnah:

If we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy and prosperous we should wholly and solely concentrate on the well-being of the people, and especially of the masses and the poor… you are free- you are free to go to your temples mosques or any other place of worship in this state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state… in due course of time Hindus will cease to be Hindus and Muslims will cease to Muslims- not in a religious sense for that is the personal faith of an individual- but in a political sense as citizens of one state

Thus, Pakistan’s constitution protects the rights of Non-Muslims and gives them freedom. So, Once Again; Merry Christmas Pakistan!

The world has always witnessed and acknowledged the strong and great vision, sincerity of Jinnah. Jinnah was a strong character among the Muslim Politicians. Different Authors, Writers, Biographers have praised him in different words. I have collected a few for you:

PTV’s lull, Quaid-e-Azam is ignored! and Sacred Mohtarma is everywhere!

Today, I happened to tune into Pakistan’s state run TV Channel PTV, there was a Benazir tribute song going on. I realized that BB’s first death anniversary is coming; so this song is a part of the coverage. But to my surprise, right after the song, they aired a documentry featured on BB’s life and all the day I witnessed their special coverage including songs, documentaries, promos, tributes and much more. BB’s death anniversary is on Dec 27.

But wait a moment, before that, we have birthday of Pakistan’s founding father, and a great leader Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on Dec 25. All TV channels excluding PTV were featuring much patriotic coverage according to the ocassion. I was waiting for PTV to show any promo of the coverage of Quaid’s birthday, but all in vain. After all, what can we expect from the holy Information Minister Mohtarma Sherry Rehman?

In this post, I didn’t mean to disgrace Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, I respect her. But is it like, she is becoming a holy character for us? I mean Yes! we should be presenting her the tribute but we shouldn’t be forgetting our real heros.

I have seen people quoting Benazir Bhutto’s sayings as if they are quoting a hadith. Many places including Airports, Hospitals, Housing Societies, Sports grounds are named after her. Even coins are gonna be having BB’s photo. Guys! isn’t it too much of the tribute?

Jinnah’s birthday is just 2 days ahead, and we are still waiting to see PTV’s coverage. Will PTV create a balanced coverage? or it will continue to make blunders? Tell me your feelings in the comments.
