style="text-align: left;">From writing on Blackboards with chalks to writing on whiteboards with markers the Pakistani education system hasn’t improved much while other countries are planning on going all digital in the next few years. PakTurk International Schools and Colleges have decided to take a stand and have replaced their white and blackboards with smartboards to enhance the standard of education in their schools.

The smartboards produced by Smart Technologies, a company based in Canada have been available since 1991 and have been employed in many international schools. The decision to replace the boards was made when the school realized the smartboard’s exceptional potential.

The smartboard’s display is connected to a computer and projector while the software can be directly controlled by interacting physically with the display which is similar to resistive touchscreens. Users are able to note down notes on the smartboard using digital ink which they can save as a normal file to view or share later. Smartboards can also be used view shapes and other three dimentional objects and interact with them using their fingers, similar to something you could do with a tablet.

New iterations of the smartboard like the ones employed in PakTurk schools can be connected to Wi-Fi to communicate with other computers and smartboards. Teachers and students can also use the smartboards to transfer lectures, pictures, notes and other media at high speeds.

The smartboards although being a great tool for modern education are not without their weaknesses. We noticed that since the smartboard requires a projector to display data on its screen students will have to jot down notes on their paper registers in the dark. There’s also the loadshedding factor, the schools will need to have a constant electrical supply to power the board, the projector and computer. And last but not least the smartboards are expensive and not every school is able to afford them.

We commend PakTurk for introducing such modern teaching instruments and hope that other schools will soon follow suit.

Post by: Danial Arshad

Pakistani Firm To Add Value To India’s Low-cost Aakaash Tablet

EYE TEE

Aakash tablet

FiveRivers Technologies

india

News

pakistan

Pepper.pk

technology
<guid

Like every country, We too have a so called state’s official web portal (Pakistan.Gov.PK). About a week ago, I was shocked to see it was still displaying Mr. Soomro as President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I was wondering how updated our govt.’s technology department is? I mean the portal wasn’t updated even after 2 weeks since Zardari was elected as President.

Shall we call it an ignorance? or it is really technology ill-literacy ? And this isn’t all, I’ve been noticing that the website is down for 3 or 4 days. I tried browsing this website from various ISPs including anonymous servers across the world and it is confirmed that As of today, 12:15 PDT, The Website is Down. I would simply say this is too much.

Official country portals are considered the best gateways to information about any country. Even the underdeveloped countries like Bangladesh are having informative official country portals that are updated on momentarily basis.
