Just after recovering from a massive scandal, Geo seems to have landed into another controversy again. A map of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor shown in Shahzeb Khanzada’s show, with Pakistan map in highlight but without Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

This obviously seems like a sloppy work by the research/graphic team of the show Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath who probably lifted off the image from an Indian website, but social media users are not ready to let it go.

The hashtag #GeoAgainstKashmirFreedom is trending at number 2 in Pakistan as of writing this post with a huge number of anti-Geo tweets pouring in. Most of these images look like low quality propaganda memes created for the purpose of taking on Geo. It, however, seems to have picked on by common social media users as well who are now rapidly retweeting and reposting those memes.

People didn’t fail to make it a Geo Vs Bol thing! It could very well be — a campaign to target GEO by BOL.

Then there are subtle ones who want PEMRA and Interior Ministry to take notice and ban Geo!

Looking at the bright side for Geo, it appears to be a pure propaganda trend initiated by Farhan Virk and company who aren’t willing to let the mistake go.

Shahzeb Khanzada tried to do some damage control by issuing a clarification in today’s episode saying that held Kashmir, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan were shown as a unified area and not as part of India. He further tried to pin it down on Dawn saying this map was lifted from Now he remembers to give credit?

At least he admitted he lifts stuff without giving credit.

Dear trolls, get a life. GEO is a Pakistani network and is operating here legally and there’s no evidence of it being involved in an espionage. So enough with labels of treason. It’s kind of an allegation that only a court of law can prove. And dear GEO researchers/producers, do a better job to avoid PR nightmare like this for no reason.
